SUMMARY OF COMPLAINTS POLICY

The governors have adopted a clear complaints procedure which will help to ensure that most complaints are resolved quickly and smoothly.

If a parent has any query or complaint about their child’s education, the first approach should be made to the child’s class teacher. Parents are encouraged to make prior appointments. If the matter is not resolved satisfactorily the Headteacher should be contacted. The complaint will be investigated and the Headteacher will report back to the parent. If the matter is still unresolved the Chair of Governors should be contacted.

Although parents are encouraged to raise concerns with school staff, we recognise that parents may, on occasion, bring their complaint to the LA by telephoning or writing to the Assigned School Inspector. The inspector for Isleham School is Mrs Jane Rickell, who can be contacted on 01223 717393.

It is important that parents talk to class teachers so that problems can be dealt with at an early stage.

The full policy is available from the school office.

OUTLINE OF THE SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS POLICY

We aim to ensure that all pupils have equal access to the National Curriculum and to the resources and opportunities offered by the school.

All teachers plan, set and mark work which is appropriate and relevant to the individual needs of pupils. The school arranges specialist teaching to enhance the curriculum wherever this is appropriate. The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is responsible for overseeing assessment and provision.

The full policy is available from the school office.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Isleham Primary School seeks to ensure the health and safety of its employees, children and all visiting persons by giving high priority to maintaining the standards of health and safety required by current legislation. The Health and Safety Committee consists of a governor, a teacher, a member of the support staff, the caretaker and the Headteacher. It meets in the second half of the term, following a Health and Safety walk round in the first half of each term.
