Recently, the Frank Cochran Trophy was presented for the second time to one of our pupils. The trophy, given to the school by retired vet Mr Cochran, is presented every half term to a pupil who shows outstanding achievement. All staff in the school, from teachers to support staff, dinner supervisors to clerical staff, are invited to nominate a pupil for the award. The term before last, it was awarded to Michael from last year's Year 6 class for his efforts, both on and off stage, in the Drama Group's production of 'Bombs and Blackberries.' Last term the award was presented to Jamie from Year 5 for his excellennt behaviour and general attitude in school. Jamie was surprised in assembly when he saw his proud parents sitting at the front of the hall with the Chair of Governors, Mrs Jolly. He had to sit throught the whole of assembly before finding out why they were there. Jamie received a well deserved round of applause when he was finally brought to the front of the hall for his trophy, which he will proudly display at home until it is presented again next half term. The staff have already started the task of looking out for the next recipient of the trophy. |
