Assembly Monitors
by Jamie

When you are an assembly monitor at Isleham Primary in year 5, you have to come in early to get everything ready for the assembly. First, the four children check to see if it is a whole school assembly or key stage 1 and key stage 2 assemblies. If it's a whole school assembly, they need to put 6 chairs on each side of the hall and 3 benches at the back; if not then they need to place 4 chairs each side and benches halfway down the hall.
At the front of the hall the assembly monitors put a small table, collect the candle from the window sill and place it on table. After that two children get the lighter and vase from the office and the other two fetch the pen, hymn book and Isleham schools assembly record book, then place everything on the table.
If the pianist is not going to be in the assembly then they need to set up the piano and the C. D. player ready, but if she is going to be there then they don't need to do those two jobs. The last thing they must do is to set up the over head projector then everything will be ready for the assembly!
